Pallavi Mohan:
Visionary Designer and Advocate for Sustainability
Pallavi Mohan’s journey into the world of design is as diverse and inspiring as the landscapes that shaped her. Growing up in Guwahati and later attending boarding school at Mussoorie International, Pallavi’s early exposure to nature’s beauty sparked a deep appreciation for aesthetics. Her passion for art was evident from a young age, culminating in an art exhibition at just 17, which earned her an unconditional offer from the University of Arts London. Pallavi embarked on a foundation course to explore various facets of art, including photography, pottery, and textiles. It was during her time at the Chelsea School of Art and Design that she discovered her love for textiles, where she began experimenting with textures and laser cutting. Her educational journey also included stints at St Martin’s for pottery and a short business course at Kellogg, ensuring she stayed abreast of industry trends. Fashion found Pallavi serendipitously. Her inherent creativity, combined with her love for art and textiles, and the opportunity to travel the world, naturally led her to design. Her family, particularly their unwavering support, has always been her greatest source of inspiration. Pallavi’s design process is distinctive; she begins by crafting intricate 3D embroideries, for which she is well-known, and then builds silhouettes that enhance individuality. Her commitment to sustainability is evident in her use of eco-friendly materials and production methods. It extends to her business, where she leads one of India’s first green factories, supporting over 3,000 employees while prioritizing ethical practices. The brand's presence extends across multiple boutiques worldwide, including locations in Canada, the USA, the Middle East, the UK, Europe, and India. Beyond fashion, Pallavi is a passionate advocate for various causes. She is a TEDx speaker, mentor, and jury member at institutions such as NIIFT and Amity University. She has also served as an SLP Expert at the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and is a Board Trustee for Panchvati Senior Care Home, one of India’s first short-stay assisted facilities. Pallavi’s values of co-existence are reflected in both her personal and professional life. An ardent animal lover, she has been a pet parent to over 11 dogs and currently cares for three indie rescues at her factory
